About Crumbless

Crumbless is privacy-first web analytics for people who run their own sites. We started it because the current options force a bad choice: surveillance-grade free tools (Google Analytics) that demand a cookie banner in the EU and train the customer base of one of the largest advertising companies on Earth, monthly SaaS subscriptions for tools that are nicer about privacy but still send your visitor data to a third party, or self-hosted alternatives that demand a VPS with Node, Postgres, or Docker — infrastructure most site owners can’t or won’t run.

We thought roughly half the public web runs on shared PHP hosting and deserves better. So Crumbless runs there. PHP 8.1, SQLite, no database server, no Docker, no Node. Upload a folder via FTP, visit a URL, complete a four-step wizard, paste a <script> tag. Done.

Who’s behind it

Crumbless is built by NEXTGENWEBS, S.L., a small software company based in Paterna, Valencia (Spain). We’ve been building software for hosting customers and small businesses for a long time; Crumbless is the analytics tool we wanted to use ourselves, made available to everyone else who runs their site on the kind of hosting we help maintain.

Where we stand

  • Data stays home. Visitor data lives on your server. The Hub never sees it. That’s the architectural commitment, not a marketing tagline.
  • Open source. The product is licensed under AGPL-3.0-only. Self-host it, modify it, redistribute it. If you offer a modified version as a network service, the AGPL’s network-use clause requires you to make your source available to your users. The Hub (the bit we host) is separate and proprietary.
  • EU-based, EU-operated. We’re in Spain, our infrastructure is in the EU, and our legal posture follows GDPR and Spanish LSSI-CE.
  • One paid tier. Free is fully functional for the indie web. Pro is €99/year and unlocks goals, funnels, heatmaps, email reports, and longer retention. Lifetime is €299 once. There’s no enterprise tier; if you need enterprise terms, write to us directly.
